Intercom is a customer communication platform with the AI agent Fin, priced per seat plus per outcome. Supportifier is a knowledge base that powers every service channel, from chat and email to phone, and is implemented together with you, at a price per year. This comparison is written by Supportifier; the information about Intercom comes from Intercom's own pages and the conclusions are our assessments.

What is Intercom and what is Supportifier?

Intercom is a platform for customer communication and support; Supportifier is a Swedish ticketing system built around a reviewed knowledge base. So it is not one chat widget against another.

According to Intercom's pricing page, Messenger, a shared inbox with ticketing, ready-made reports and a public help centre are already included in the smallest plan. Live chat, support email and in-app messages are included in all plans, while SMS, WhatsApp, phone and email campaigns are paid per use. Fin can answer within service, sales and e-commerce and, according to Intercom, can also be connected to another helpdesk.

Supportifier consists of a public help centre, AI form, AI chat and live chat, an inbox with suggested replies, a customer portal, phone, and WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct in the same inbox. All of them use the same knowledge base, which we build from your documents, your website and previous tickets, and which your team reviews. How it works for software companies is described in the guide to AI support for SaaS.

How do the pricing models differ?

Intercom charges per seat per month, from USD 29 for Essential according to the pricing page on 9 October 2026, and the AI agent Fin costs from USD 0.99 per outcome. According to Intercom's help article on Fin outcomes, an outcome is counted when the customer, after Fin's last reply, confirms that the answer helped or leaves without asking for more help. You are charged at most once per conversation, and handovers to a human are not charged. All plans, add-ons and a worked example for five agents are in our Swedish guide to Intercom pricing 2026.

Supportifier starts at SEK 79,000 per year for the smallest customers. The arrangement consists of platform and operations according to agreed scope and volume, implementation and knowledge work as a one-off effort, and any integrations. AI replies count towards the agreed volume, and how excess volume is handled is stated in the arrangement. More is on the pricing page.

How do Intercom and Supportifier differ feature by feature?

Intercom is broader in communication with the user, with in-app messages, proactive campaigns and SMS; Supportifier puts the emphasis on the knowledge and the delivery. The information about Intercom is as stated on Intercom's website and may differ between plans.

Data hosting needs attention. According to Intercom's article on regional data hosting, the regions are the US, the EU and Australia, but regional hosting only applies to new workspaces on Advanced and Expert and is arranged through Intercom's sales team. An existing workspace cannot be moved directly, and historical conversations can only be exported. In Supportifier, all customer data is stored within the EU/EEA regardless of arrangement.

When is Intercom the better fit?

Intercom is the better fit when communication with the user is broader than support. That applies, for example, to product companies that also want to use in-app messages, banners and proactive campaigns.

  • You want to meet users in the product with messages, tips and onboarding.
  • You need SMS in the same platform and accept usage fees for the channels.
  • You have a helpdesk that will stay in place and want to put Fin in front of it.
  • You have your own capacity to write help content and follow up on Fin's outcomes.
  • You are an international team with many languages and want several brands in the same environment.

When is Supportifier the better fit?

Supportifier is the better fit when you want help building the knowledge and want to know the annual cost in advance. If the problem is that the answers are scattered or outdated, a new AI agent does not move that work.

  • You want the help centre, chat, forms, phone and inbox to answer from the same reviewed knowledge.
  • You want phone, WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram in the same inbox as email and chat.
  • You want the vendor to do the knowledge work and your team to review.
  • You do not want the cost to grow per outcome as the automation works better.
  • You want all customer data stored within the EU/EEA without requiring a particular plan, as described on the security page.
  • You are a Swedish team with a few hundred tickets a week and want a Swedish vendor that does the implementation with you.

How do you test Intercom and Supportifier fairly?

Follow a real user question from first contact to resolution or handover, in both. That shows both answer quality and cost drivers.

  1. Choose common questions, a subscription exception, a question that requires a personal check and a question with no answer.
  2. Check whether the answer is based on the right source and whether the AI hands over when the material is missing.
  3. Calculate a normal month and a peak season with Fin outcomes, seats and channel fees.
  4. Compare with Supportifier's written arrangement for the same volume.

Why the decisive thing is that a chat does not guess is explained in the article on grounded chatbots.

Common questions

How do Intercom's and Supportifier's pricing models differ?

Intercom charges per seat per month, from USD 29 for Essential according to the pricing page in October 2026, and the AI agent Fin costs from USD 0.99 per outcome. Supportifier costs from SEK 79,000 per year and is quoted as an arrangement based on channels and volume, with implementation as a separate one-off part. Plans and a worked example are in our Swedish guide to Intercom pricing 2026.

How is a Fin outcome counted?

According to Intercom's help article, an outcome is counted when the customer, after Fin's last reply, confirms that it helped or leaves without asking for more help. You are charged at most once per conversation, and handovers to a human are not charged. The cost therefore grows with the number of resolved conversations.

Can Intercom store data in the EU?

Yes, but according to Intercom's article on regional data hosting only for new workspaces on Advanced and Expert, through Intercom's sales team. An existing workspace cannot be moved directly. In Supportifier, all customer data is stored within the EU/EEA as standard, and customers' tickets are not used to train AI models.

Can Supportifier be used for SaaS support?

Yes. Product knowledge and reviewed answers in the help centre, chat and inbox are a common use case. Account-specific details and actions in your product require a connection, for example via Supportifier's REST API, and that is investigated during implementation. In-app messages and proactive campaigns, on the other hand, are Intercom's territory.
