Help Scout is a well-liked shared inbox with a knowledge base, easy to get started with and priced per user. Supportifier is a knowledge base that powers every service channel, from chat and email to phone, and is rolled out together with you, at a price per year. This comparison is written by Supportifier; the facts about Help Scout come from Help Scout's own pages and the conclusions are our assessments.

What is Help Scout and what is Supportifier?

Help Scout is a shared inbox with a knowledge base and AI support; Supportifier is a ticketing system where a reviewed knowledge base powers every channel. Both have AI and self-service, so the difference lies in who builds the knowledge and how the price is set.

According to Help Scout's pricing page, the paid plans include inboxes, Docs sites for knowledge bases, live chat, SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, workflows and SLA policies. Plus adds a secure customer portal, unlimited AI drafts and integrations with Salesforce, Jira and HubSpot. AI Answers replies to customers in Beacon, Help Scout's embedded help widget.

Supportifier consists of a public help centre, AI form, AI and live chat, inbox with suggested replies, customer portal, phone, and WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct in the same inbox. All of them use the same knowledge base, which we build from your documents, your website and past tickets. Your team reviews what should apply. How the inbox works is described on the inbox page.

What does Help Scout cost in 2026?

Help Scout costs from USD 25 per user per month, plus AI Answers at USD 0.75 per resolution. This is how the pricing page looked when we checked it on 9 October 2026. The page states that annual billing gives a 16 percent discount; check which period the price applies to for you.

PlanList price per user per monthIncludes, among other things
FreeUSD 05 users, 1 inbox, 1 Docs site, 100 contacts per month
StandardUSD 25Up to 25 users, 2 inboxes, several knowledge bases, chat and social channels
PlusUSD 45Up to 50 users, 5 inboxes, customer portal, unlimited AI drafts
ProUSD 75At least 10 users, SSO, dedicated onboarding, sold via demo

Extra inboxes cost USD 10 and extra Docs sites USD 20 per month on Standard. AI Assist and AI Summarize are included without limit from Standard.

AI Answers is billed per resolution. According to Help Scout's article on AI pricing, a resolution is an AI chat session that ends without help from a human. You are only billed when the AI has given a real answer and the customer does not ask for more help, and at most once per session. You can set a monthly cap, and when it is reached AI Answers is switched off in Beacon until the next period. New customers get three months free.

A worked example with list prices: five users on Plus comes to 5 × 45 × 12 = USD 2,700 per year. If AI Answers resolves 1,000 sessions a month, add 1,000 × 0.75 × 12 = USD 9,000. Together USD 11,700 per year before VAT and your own time writing the articles the AI answers from.

Supportifier starts at SEK 79,000 per year for the smallest customers. The arrangement consists of platform and operations according to the agreed scope and volume, onboarding and knowledge work as a one-off effort, and any integrations. It is invoiced annually in advance. More is on the pricing page. A small team can therefore get a lower licence price with Help Scout.

How do Help Scout and Supportifier differ feature by feature?

Help Scout has SMS and a low entry price; Supportifier has phone, delivers the knowledge work and stores data within the EU/EEA. The facts about Help Scout are according to Help Scout's website and may differ between plans.

Data storage is the clearest difference. Help Scout writes in its article on GDPR that the service is hosted on AWS servers in the USA. Help Scout states that it complies with GDPR and offers a data processing agreement, but cannot sign customers' own agreements. In Supportifier, all customer data is stored within the EU/EEA, and a data processing agreement (DPA) is signed with every customer as standard. See the security page.

When is Help Scout the better fit?

Help Scout is the better fit when you want a simple, well-built inbox and have the time to run the knowledge base yourselves. A low entry price and a quick start are real advantages.

  • You are a small team that wants to get started today, without an onboarding project.
  • You want SMS in the same inbox as WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
  • You have a knowledge base that works and someone who owns it.
  • You want to be able to cap the AI cost per month.
  • You use Salesforce, Jira or HubSpot and want ready-made connections to them.
  • Data storage in the USA is compatible with your requirements.

When is Supportifier the better fit?

Supportifier is the better fit when knowledge is the bottleneck and data has to stay within the EU/EEA. We build the knowledge base, you review, and the same answers are used in chat, forms, help centre, phone and inbox.

  • You lack the time to write and maintain the articles the AI is meant to answer from.
  • You want AI forms and chat to resolve questions before they become emails.
  • You have a requirement that customer data is stored within the EU/EEA.
  • The answers need to draw on orders, payments and deliveries, for example in Shopify, Stripe or DHL.
  • You want an annual price with volume limits instead of a cost that grows with every resolution.

How do you test Help Scout and Supportifier fairly?

Let the people who work in the inbox judge the same tickets in both. A well-written draft saves no time if it has to be checked from scratch.

  1. Test a recurring email, an exception to the standard terms and a question where information is missing.
  2. Take a real knowledge gap from the inbox through to a published article and measure how much work remains.
  3. Check that internal instructions are kept separate from public help.
  4. Add up licences, AI resolutions and your own time for a year, and compare with Supportifier's written arrangement.

How AI drafts in email can be reviewed step by step is described in our Swedish guide to AI replies to email.
