Freshdesk alternative: compare price, AI and knowledge work
Freshdesk is a helpdesk priced per agent per month, from USD 19 with annual billing, with Freddy AI Agent charged per session. Supportifier is a Swedish platform where a reviewed knowledge base powers the help centre, chat, forms, phone, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, inbox and customer portal, from SEK 79,000 per year. Freshdesk suits teams that want to build it themselves; Supportifier suits teams that want knowledge work done during rollout.
Freshdesk is a helpdesk with low entry prices per agent and AI that costs per session. Supportifier is a knowledge base that powers every service channel, from chat and email to phone, and is rolled out together with you. This comparison is written by Supportifier, so the conclusions about what suits whom are our assessments. Freshdesk's features are taken from Freshworks' own pages.
What is Freshdesk and what is Supportifier?
Freshdesk is a ticketing system from Freshworks; Supportifier is a Swedish ticketing system built around a reviewed knowledge base. The starting points differ, and that explains most of the rest of this comparison.
According to the Freshworks pricing page, ticketing and a shared inbox, customer portal and knowledge base, reporting and roles are already included in the smallest paid plan. Higher tiers add a multilingual helpdesk, routing, multiple SLA policies, a sandbox and audit logs. AI comes in three parts: Freddy AI Agent, which answers customers, Freddy AI Copilot, which helps the agents, and Freddy AI Insights for analytics.
Supportifier consists of a public help centre, AI form, AI and live chat, inbox with suggested replies, customer portal, phone, and WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct in the same inbox. All of them use the same knowledge base, which we build from your documents, your website and previous tickets. Your team reviews what should apply. How the parts fit together is described on the platform page.
How do the pricing models differ?
Freshdesk charges per agent per month, from USD 19 for Growth with annual billing according to the pricing page on 9 October 2026. Freddy AI Agent has 500 sessions included and then costs USD 49 per 100 sessions. A session is, according to Freshworks' help article on sessions, all interaction between a customer and the AI agent within 24 hours, and the pricing page does not say whether the 500 renew, so check that in your contract. All plans, add-ons and a worked example for five agents are in our Swedish guide to Freshdesk pricing 2026.
Supportifier starts at SEK 79,000 per year for the smallest customers. The price consists of platform and operation according to agreed scope and volume, rollout and knowledge work as a one-off effort, and any integrations. It is invoiced annually in advance, with price and volume limits in writing before start. More is on the pricing page. A small team with a simple email flow can therefore get a lower price from Freshdesk.
How do Freshdesk and Supportifier differ feature by feature?
The biggest difference is who builds and reviews the knowledge, not which channels exist. The details about Freshdesk are as stated on the Freshworks website and may differ between plans.
| Area | Freshdesk | Supportifier |
|---|---|---|
| Channels | Email, shared inbox, customer portal and knowledge base according to the pricing page; other channels are not stated there | Email, AI and live chat, AI form, help centre, customer portal, phone with phone menu and queues, WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram Direct; no SMS |
| AI replies | Freddy AI Agent per session, Copilot USD 29 per agent per month | AI agents in chat and forms, suggested replies in the inbox, AI support and notes in phone calls; counted within the agreed volume |
| Knowledge base | Included; you write and maintain the articles | Built by us during rollout from your sources and used in every channel |
| Review | Your own routines and permissions | Every answer is fact-checked against the sources and marked Safe, Review or Uncertain; you choose per category whether answers are sent or suggested |
| Data storage/EU | A data centre in the EEA can be chosen at sign-up, according to Freshdesk's help article | All customer data within the EU/EEA, no AI training on customer data, data processing agreement (DPA) as standard |
| Swedish | Multilingual helpdesk from Pro according to the pricing page | Swedish company; help centre, chat and forms in Swedish, English, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and German, and incoming messages can be translated |
| Rollout | Self-service or partner | Separate one-off part of the arrangement; we do the knowledge work, you review |
| Price | USD 19–89 per agent per month plus AI usage | From SEK 79,000 per year, quoted according to scope |
On data storage, Freshdesk writes in its article on data centres that there are data centres in the USA, the EEA, the United Arab Emirates, India and Australia. The location is chosen when the account is created, and if you want to move later you contact Freshdesk's support. So choose the EEA from the start if it is a requirement.
In Supportifier, all customer data is stored within the EU/EEA regardless of arrangement, and the language model runs with zero data retention. The details are on the security page.
When is Freshdesk the better fit?
Freshdesk is the better fit when you want an affordable helpdesk that you set up and manage yourselves. That applies especially if you already have good help articles and someone who owns them.
- You have many agents but simple flows, and a low price per seat matters most.
- You want to start on your own today, without a rollout project.
- You need features such as a sandbox, audit logs or skill-based routing, which are available in Enterprise.
- You already use other Freshworks products and want to stay in the same environment.
- You have the capacity to build and test Freddy AI Agent and keep track of session consumption.
When is Supportifier the better fit?
Supportifier is the better fit when the problem is the knowledge, not the inbox. If the same question gets different answers in different channels, or if nobody has time to write and review help articles, a new ticketing system does not move that work.
- You want the help centre, chat, forms, phone and inbox to answer from the same reviewed material.
- You want the supplier to do the knowledge work during rollout, and your team to review.
- You want to know the annual cost in advance instead of counting sessions.
- You want all customer data to stay within the EU/EEA without choosing it at sign-up.
- You need to connect, for example, Shopify, Visma Business NXT or PostNord, which are among the integrations.
How do you compare Freshdesk and Supportifier fairly?
Test the same questions in both and calculate for the whole year. A fair test shows both answer quality and how much work the team ends up with.
- Choose twenty common questions, two exceptions and one question without an answer.
- Have both suppliers show how the answer is built, reviewed and updated.
- Assess correctness, handover to a human and how much has to be corrected.
- Count licences, AI sessions, add-ons, rollout and your own time for one year, for example with the ROI calculator.
If you are also weighing Zendesk, the comparison with Zendesk is built the same way.

Does Freshdesk have AI that answers customers?
Yes. Freddy AI Agent answers customers and is charged per session, where a session is all interaction with a customer within 24 hours.
